Uncle Sam giveth and Uncle Sam taketh away

7.Feb.2007

Okay, so now I’m no longer slated for a class date at the end of March and am back in the standby bin. I was to take the place of a Sergeant but because I haven’t been through NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) school, it presents a glitch. I apparently cannot attend flight school on that date because it won’t cover the leadership component I need. Back to the waiting game.

However, I’m still being sent up to Sacramento next week to ceremonially become a Warrant Officer Candidate. What the ceremony entails or means, I have no idea. I do know that as a WOC, I am officially non-deployable. Yeah I know, some of you are sitting there thinking, “but I thought he said he was already non-deployable?” I thought so too.

I also find it quite ironic that the ceremony is taking place on Valentine’s Day what with this becoming such a labor of love…or hate depending on how you look at relationships.

Does anyone else think this is quickly becoming something uncomfortably like another waltz I did with the military a long time ago?

  2. I don’t think I’d even started to read the entry itself (beyond the headline) before that word was screaming through my head.

    Sucks dude. Sucks.

If this were a relationship, we’d all be telling you, “She’s just not that into you, man.”

  3. I’m not entirely sure, but I believe the ‘ceremony’ has something to do with a big paddle with holes in it !?!
Nope, this one is bigger than the last.. :)
