The Hits Just Keep On Coming!

Some of you know I applied for a position with the FAA just about one year ago. Yeah, I forgot about it too.

They called today, interested. That is until I had to explain where I am and what I’m doing. She said she would annotate that in the file. I’m guessing that would be the circular file.

What’s next? Is Independence going to rise from the ashes and recall those that are available? You laugh, I know I do, but with my luck or lack thereof of late I would not be the least bit surprised.

28 Weeks Later

I found myself in a very dark and disgruntled place by coincidence when I saw 28 Days Later and therefore loved the movie that put a fresh spin on the zombie genre.  So wouldn’t it be appropriate that I find myself in nearly an identical situation as a friend invites me over to see 28 Weeks Later?  Life is funny like that, I guess.

So straight out of SERE with heads the shrink warned us are not stable and extremely susceptible to graphic violence we cracked open the beers and a bottle of tequila and sat down to some gruesome entertainment.

There has always been a general rule of horror flicks that most sequels will suck.  This one almost got there.

Six months after the rage virus took over England, a U.S. led NATO force is sterilizing and reconstructing the country.  They are just beginning to allow survivors back into quarantined sections of London.  The story starts off with great potential explaining how the virus will get back out into society and that’s where they should have stayed but instead we ride down the familiar rails of a standard zombie movie where all hell breaks loose and hope is all but lost.  Very formulaic.  The original music score hangs hauntingly in the air which actually works for the movie making you feel like you’re simply watching a continuation of the original story, but the storyline just won’t let that happen.

The one thing I did appreciate was this crew’s continuation with the rule that main characters continually shift.  You never know who will get it next.

Overall, a decent Saturday night popcorn flick if you like having the hair on the back of your neck stand up.  Sadly though, it doesn’t follow too well in the foot steps of its predecessor.

And if you’re wondering, yes there will be stories about the last 3 weeks.  I’m just trying to figure out what I can tell you other than the fact that it was cold, it was wet and it sucked.  Plus, they didn’t give us any time off afterwards.  I started another school today.
