This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on YouTube in a while. The last 70 years of war condensed into 5 minutes with the representative cultural foods going at it. It will take a few viewings to truly appreciate all of it. I think my favorite segment is the kabobs under night vision.

You’ve Got To Be Kidding!

We started the Instruments portion of flight school today and met our IPs. Mine was taking his annual check ride so we had a guest IP sit in. We walk into the room, shake hands and do the usual meet and greet getting names out of the way. And then the conversation immediately turns…

IP: Do either of you have any previous flight experience?

Shoup: Yes… (said cautiously)

IP: Oh? What did you do?

Shoup: I was an airline pilot.

IP: I thought I sensed a cocky attitude. (said with dripping condescension)

It took every ounce of my will not to reach across the table and bitch slap this guy. But at the same time sit there and analyze the last minute to see if I did something wrong. Seriously! You’ve known me for less than 30 seconds and you’re going to tell me that?

What is the deal with these guys and anyone with a decent amount of flight experience?! You just can’t get much more professional that that, can you?

I know some of you are chuckling over a previous conversation covering this subject and I did the same thing. But this is about as bad as it gets. Well, then again, wait until I tell you what the ground instructor had to say.
