That Relative You Never Realized Was Kind of Cool

13.Aug.2008

Uncle Sam likes to keep a few secrets hidden up his sleeve.  Why, I’ve never really known.  That is until someone discovers a certain little treasure or activity and starts letting everyone else in on it.  Or I could just be completely ignorant.  Like that has ever happened!

Anyway, I needed to work on my car and found being removed from home I didn’t have all my tools or the resources to aquire them.  Then someone suggested the auto shop on base.  The auto what? Turns out most bases have a garage with every tool you could ever possibly imagine needing for a car.  I started giggling with the thought of being able to dismantle and reassemble my car just for the sheer fact that I could!  And its all on the cheap too!  Having my car up on a lift and tooling around for an hour cost me a whole 3 bucks!

Guess there are some benefits to this whole flying gig.  Or at least a small return for what’s to come, down the road.

It’s not YOUR birthday!

11.Aug.2008

The other day we had a birthday for the resident three year old amongst our friends here in ‘Bama.  Never having shopped for a three year old, I was torn between getting just a simple toy that would entertain for 5 minutes and then be discarded for eternity or something educational.  The guy’s turning three, which way do you go?

Then I saw it, something I hadn’t seen in years.  I didn’t even know they still made them.  I remember having fun with them not only as a kid, but also over the years as you stumble upon it from time to time.  I was sold.

I was still curious as to whether Jack would like it or not.  The gifts seemed to be split right down the middle with toys and educational toys.  He opened my gift to discover a View-Master and the poor kid never got to use it because every adult there had to play with it the rest of the night!

Hi There!

7.Aug.2008

Let me be the first to introduce most of you to Elizabeth Carroll. She’s the first for Mike and Samantha, fellow prisoners here in Southeast Alabama. If you’re still scratching your head, they’re the ones responsible for holiday feasts that keep popping up in my gallery. Congrats, guys!

Elizabeth
