You want the good news or the bad news first?

Screw it, like you thought this was a choose your own adventure deal or something. You get the good first!

I didn’t get put on hold for the final phase of Blackhawks. We found out tonight and in typical Army tradition, started things at 7 pm taking an operator’s manual test and sitting through all the in-brief crap. Did I mention tonight is Friday? And I just got out of there at 10? And there are still people finishing the test? Guess, I can’t complain, the light is suddenly growing at the end of the tunnel.

Oh yeah, the bad news. This is the night phase. Means night vision goggles. They don’t mix too well with a camera’s flash, so you’re probably not going to see a lot of photos this time around. I know, I know, it sucks but there isn’t much I can do. Sorry!

The lengths you will go to to get the shot! 80 knots of wind constantly wanting to push the zoom lens back, hanging halfway out the crew chief window and temps in the 40s. Thank God for the monkey harness! Make sure you maximize the browser window on this one! More to come over the holiday, just too many photos to edit right now.

Take one part an empty Saturday afternoon, three and a half parts kids, two sets of parents and one willing shutterbug in a giant pumpkin patch and shake thoroughly. What you’ll end up getting is an amalgam of the standard family shots and some other less expected photos that would make any real Linus and Lucy proud!

So I think my computer took a nose dive today. It’s now a question of troubleshooting that I don’t have the time for. Why? Because today I found out that I’m not being put on hold for the first section of training. Of course!

If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

Just hope the something like 9 gigs of photos aren’t lost.

And since we’re on the subject, I put the inevitable question to you, Mac or PC?

Sunburns and Stiff Necks

I went to the Tyndall AFB airshow last weekend and finally got a chance to put my D80 through the paces I’ve been wanting to ever since I got it. I shot over 700 photos between 11am and 5pm. The battery never even reached half charge.

This and some 200 plus photos are up in the gallery. If you seen one you like, let me know and I’ll email the full size version to you.

Oh yeah, I’m sure you’ll agree that the Nikon passed the test. One could say with flying colors!
